Wages and Salaries Career Search

A big part of this unit is for you to start thinking about how you are going to apply the calculations that we'll learn in your everyday lives. You need to decide what kind of a lifestyle you want or expect to live in order to know what kind of a job you'll need to support it. And, the kind of job you can get when you graduate will depend, in part, on the skills and education you are developing right now.

The "Job Possibilities" worksheet had you investigating a local, part-time job that could support you while you are in school. This worksheet will have you investigating a future career possibility.

  1. To start with, I've compiled a detailed list of careers you might want to consider. Click here (Career List) to download this list.
  2. Scroll through the list and pick two you would like to investigate further. Write these on your worksheet.
Next, go to the website www.SchoolFinder.com

  1. Type your first career choice in the search engine box in the middle of the page.
  2. Select "careers" as your search heading and then select “Go.”
  3. Read through “Profile,” “Statistics,” “Requirements,” “Earnings,” and “Outlook” to answer the questions on your worksheet.
Because there are not enough computers for everyone, please only complete one career search during class time. If you would like to complete a second search for bonus marks, you may do this on your own time.

If you need another copy of the assignment sheet, click here: S2 Consumer Math Career Search

Happy searching!
